There are many ways to build relationships today, especially if you can take advantage of social media and technology. Of course, safety is key, so always make sure you know who you’re agreeing to meet whether its online or in-person. Install a good security system on all your electronics (anti-virus, malware, VPN, etc.) and never download materials you didn’t ask for. Check people out before accepting ‘friend’ and ‘connection’ requests. Do you really need to accept everyone or just those who are in your line of business?
That being said, social media platforms are terrific tools to use for networking and building relationships outside your immediate sphere. LinkedIn is the go-to resource for sales people as well as human resource managers. It’s a great way to check people out to make sure they’re legit and give you some info before you make an inquiry.
